Frequently Asked Questions
|
Tx Log On Troubleshooting Guide
|
| Q. 1:
|
When trying to install the software on WinXP, the following error is displayed:
"The operating system is not adequate..."
A:You have an outdated installer. Please visit http://204.202.11.175/downloads/txlogonupdate
and download the updated installer.
Note: Tx Logon will work only on Win2k and XP
|
| Q. 2:
|
The software seems to be running fine, but when I try to change information on the card and it
asks for my PIN, the following error is displayed:
"Access Denied. Please check your PIN. If the problem persists - contact the system administrator"
A: Make sure you are using the supplied Tx Logon card and that it is properly seated in the reader face-up.
If you are positive that the PIN on the card has not been changed from the out-of-box default of "12345",
make sure your smart card reader is attached/installed and functioning properly.
Tx Logon will only work with PC/SC compliant readers. Many readers on the market do in fact adhere to
this standard, but there are a handful that do not. We rarely provide support for Tx Logon when being used with
readers other than our CHIPDRIVE or SCM reader line. Although Tx Logon is designed to work with all
PC/SC readers, it was originally built to work with our line of smart card readers, so for some reason it may not
function properly with any others.
CHIPDRIVE Specific - Please run a system test on your smart card reader using the CHIPDRIVE Diagnostic Tool located
in your control panel. Please verify that all tests are successful. Also, under the 'Misc. Settings' tab, please
verify that PC/SC is running and that its functions are enabled. If everything is reportedly OK, please see the
next suggestion below.
PC/SC Compliant - Please download and run this PC/SC tool which will detect any PC/SC compliant reader
properly installed. If it does not display your reader name, there is a problem. Make sure your reader drivers
are properly installed. You may also want to restart the Windows Smart Card Manager. In your control panel,
under Administrative Tools, go to Services and try and stop and restart the 'Smart Card' service.
If you have checked all of the above, contact Kalysis via phone.
|
| Q. 3:
|
After installation, on reboot the following error is displayed:
"The logon interface dll "Gina_xx.dll" failed to load. Contact your system administrator to
replace the dll, or restore the original dll."
A: Uninstall the Tx Logon dll. This will also disable the program. Please see Troubleshooting guide
for step by step instructions.
After resolving the problem by following the steps in the troubleshooting guide, you will need to
reinstall the software and verify that the following files exist in these locations:
Win2K:
c:\WINNT\system32\GinaTwk_2k.dll
c:\TxSystems\CardFunction\CardModule.dll
WinXP:
c:\WINDOWS\system32\GinaTwk_xp.dll
c:\TxSystems\CardFunction\CardModule.dll
Since you cannot reboot correctly after installing due to the "gina.dll failed to load" message,
you will need to see if these files exist in safe mode. If you are not familiar on how to boot
your computer into safe mode please refer to Windows help.
The most likely scenario will be that the CardModule.dll is being installed into a different
directory somewhere. If this is the case, simply move the file to the appropriate location as
noted above.
|
| Q. 4:
|
When trying to start the Tx Logon Configuration software the following error is displayed:
"Tx Logon Failed to load. Contact Kalysis technical support"
A: Please verify that the following files exist in these locations:
Win2K:
c:\WINNT\system32\GinaTwk_2k.dll
c:\TxSystems\CardFunction\CardModule.dll
WinXP:
c:\WINDOWS\system32\GinaTwk_xp.dll
c:\TxSystems\CardFunction\CardModule.dll
Also verify you have administrative rights on the computer you are trying to run the program on.
The most likely scenario will be that you followed the the instructions in the troubleshooting guide
to uninstall the Tx Logon dll file, but did not reinstall it. Refer to the above problem.
|
| Q. 5:
|
The software is running fine, I can change the info on my card but when I try to login using my card
I am denied access.
A: Verify that the username and password that you saved onto your card are the EXACT same username
and password you would normally use to login to your computer when using ctrl+alt+del.
Also, if you are joined to a domain and are trying to authenticate against the domain, it will fail.
Tx Logon currently only supports stand-alone pcs and will authenticate only local user accounts on that
machine.
